You should follow the grain direction when buffing out scratches. Our stainless steel legs and bases are made from standard 304 grade stainless.

It is a general food grade and outdoor use stainless. Not to be confused with the 316 grade stainless steel used in corrosive environments like close to the ocean or indoor pools (salt and chlorine water).

304 stainless steel is very resistant to the outdoors. Every 6 months it needs a little care like any outdoor grill. Many retailers have cleaning products available and just a quick wipe down will protect your base for a long time.
